What Is This All About?

We are a team going from Sydney to Bolivia for about 3 weeks in July 2009 and would like to use this blog to share our prayer needs. So what is this all about?

Goal
  • Working alongside Lawrence & Liling Tan to reach out with medical assistance to those with very limited access to medical care.
  • Meeting with Bolivian Brothers & sisters in Christ & encouraging them in their walk with the Lord.
Dr Lawrence Tan and wife Liling Tan are missionaries who have been running medical clinics in conjunction with outreach to children & families in rural Bolivia since about 13 years ago. They were living in Sydney before serving in Bolivia. Learn more about the Tans here!

Team Members
  • John Menzies (Lead)
  • Bethanie Menzies
  • Maddison Menzies
  • Daniel Lam
  • Freeman Tsang
  • Hannah Chu
  • Johnny Wong
  • Maria Chow
Most of the team members are from NDCCC (Northern District Chinese Christian Church) besides Daniel and Maria. Daniel is from Praise EFCA (Evangelical Free Church of Aust) and Maria is from CBC (Central Baptist Church).

Unfortunately, Maria will not be able to join the team to fly to Bolivia. She has however kindly offered to type the meeting minutes and help on other preparation work (...and we have accepted the offer without any hesitation). And surely she'll be with us through prayers!

Prayer Needs

We would like to keep you busy if you don't mind.

Monday
  • Pray that the missionaries' meeting held in Cochabamba will be smooth and fruitful, and that the missionaries can glorify God through sharing their experiences.
  • Pray for the missionaries' children and the "child-care" program: our teammates can build a good relationship with the children and all people can have an enjoyable time in that week.
Tuesday
  • Pray for the preparation work before leaving: teaching materials, logistics, planning itineraries, learning Spanish (pray for wisdom!!).
  • Pray for our teammates' individual relationship with God, to prepare our hearts and spiritual lives.
Wednesday
  • Pray for the safety of our teammates: limited language, developing countries, remote villages.
  • Pray that our teammates have good health: cold weather, high altitude, not enough rest.
  • Pray that our teammates can get used to the living conditions: food, accomodation, transportation, insects and wild animals?
Thursday
  • Pray for the Tans and their evangelical work: their health, faith, resources, logistics, places for accomodation.
  • Pray for the time our teammates will spend with the Tans in Sucre: that our teammates can work together with God and experience His presence.
  • Pray for the village people in Sucre: God can open their hearts, understand and accept the Gospel.
Friday
  • Pray that our teammates and have a relaxed and enjoyable time when travelling, to appreciate God's creation.
